Specimen Required:

 

 

Draw 4.0 mL blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) following an overnight (12-14 hour) fast. Patient must not consume any alcohol or ingest vitamin supplements for 24 hours before the specimen is drawn. (SST® TUBE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.)

 

Laboratory Notes:

 

 

Spin down and send 2.0 mL (0.5 mL minimum) of serum frozen in plastic amber vial to Protect specimen from exposure to light.
