Draw 3.0 mL whole blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) from a fasting patient (8 hrs).

 

 

NOTE:

This test should not be requested on patients who have recently received radioactive material.

 

Laboratory Notes:

 

 

Spin down, freeze 1.0 mL (0.6 mL minimum) of EDTA plasma immediately in plastic vial, and send frozen.

 

 

NOTE:

Reject if grossly hemolyzed.
