UREA NITROGEN, 24-HOUR URINE

St. Louis Children’s Hospital

 

Specimen Required:

 

 

Submit an entire 24-hour urine collection in a urine container supplied by St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Refrigerate specimen during collection, and send specimen refrigerated. Although a 24-hour specimen is preferred, other timed and random specimens will be tested and should be ordered as such.

 

 

NOTE:

1.

24-HOUR COLLECTION START AND STOP TIMES ARE REQUIRED ON REQUEST FORM FOR PROCESSING.

 

 

 

2.

Follow instructions on policies section, “Urine Collection.”

 

Laboratory Notes:

 

 

Mix the specimen well and aliquot 1.0 mL of urine into a conical tube. Spin and separate.  Record total volume and collection time in minutes on aliquot container(s).

 

 

NOTE:

If collection duration is NOT 24-hour, cancel order and reorder for Tmd or Rnd testing.
