Specimen Required:

 

 

Collect 2.0 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) of whole blood in a green-top (lithium heparin) tube(s), serum gel tube(s), or a plain, red-top tube(s) following an overnight (12-14 hour) fast. Patient should be following ordinary eating habits and not be acutely ill, losing weight, pregnant, or had a myocardial infarction within 3 months.

 

 

NOTE:

Pediatric: 0.5 mL green SAMPLETTE™ or MICROTAINER® also acceptable.
