count is <20 K/cumm send 30 mL of EDTA whole blood. |

An interpretive report
will be provided. The direct test
detects IgG on the patient’s platelets. Positive results may occur in collagen-vascular
and hematologic lymphoma and lymphocytic leukemia. It may also occur with
drug-induced thrombocytopenia, acute idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura, and
in post-transfusion purpura. Occasionally, positive results may be seen in
healthy individuals. |
