Specimen Required:

 

 

Collect 3.0 mL (minimum 2.0 mL) of whole blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) from a fasting patient (four hours or more, infants just before next feeding). Gel-tube is NOT acceptable

 

Laboratory Notes:

 

 

Spin down promptly and send 1.5 mL (1.0 mL minimum) of serum frozen in plastic vial.

 

 

NOTE

Will also accept plasma (EDTA or Heparin)

Test may also be performed on urine (10.0 mL clean catch) frozen.  Ordered as Misc Ref SLC.
