collection in a urine container supplied by St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
Refrigerate specimen during collection, and send specimen refrigerated. Call 314-454-4161 to obtain container. Please note collection start & stop

Random urine collections (minimum
volume of 5.0 mL) are also acceptable and should be ordered appropriately. |

Laboratory Notes: |
|||||||
|
|
1. |
Mix 24hr collection well and
measure total volume collected. Record duration and total volume on 13 mL
pour off tube and result in computer. |
|||||
|
|
2. |
Aliquot 10 mL (minimum 5.0 mL) from
the 24-hour urine collection (no preservative, that was collected in a clean,
plastic urine container(s) with no metal cap(s) or glued insert(s), into a
13-mL urine tube or a clean, plastic aliquot container with no metal cap or
glued insert . See special instruction section, “Urine Preservatives”
for multiple collections. Record total volume collected and collection
duration on aliquot tube. |

IMPORTANT NOTE: |
The addition of preservative or
application of temperature controls must occur within 4 hours of
completion of the collection, OR an acceptable preservative must
be added at the START of the collection. Urine tests which require
that the preservative be added at the START of the collection are
