See special instruction section, “Urine Preservatives” for multiple collections. Record total volume collected and collection duration on aliquot tube.

3.

See special instruction section, “Metals Analysis — Collection and Transport” for complete instructions.

4.

Refrigerate specimen within 4 hours of completion of 24-hour collection. Send specimen refrigerated.

Reference Values:

Normal: <10 mcg/ specimen

Toxic concentration: >50 mcg/specimen

The concentration at which toxicity is expressed is widely variable between patients. 50 mcg/specimen is the lowest concentration at which toxicity is usually apparent.

The reference value is for a 24-hour collection. Specimens collected for other than a 24-hour time period are reported in unit of mcg/L, for which reference values are not established.
