Submit an entire 24-hour urine
collection in a urine container (NO PRESERVATIVE) supplied by St. Louis
Children’s Hospital. Refrigerate specimen during collection, and send
specimen refrigerated. Call
314-454-4161 to obtain container. Please note collection start and stop times
on container. |

Laboratory Notes: |

|
|
Mix the 24-hour urine collection well
and measure/record the total volume collected. Aliquot 12 mL (minimum 5.0 mL)
urine from the 24-hour urine collection, no preservative, into a plastic,
13-mL urine tube. Note the collection duration and total volume collected on
urine tube. Send specimen frozen.
See special instruction section, “Urine Preservatives”
for multiple collections. Unless the 24-hour volume is known, specimens that
are <24 hours should not be used to determine a 24-hour lysozyme
excretion. Collections <24 hours will be reported as mg/L. |
