Specimen Required:

 

 

10 mL whole blood in a red/gray-top SST or plain, red-top tube(s). For young children, 5 ml in a red-top tube(s) is acceptable.

 

 

NOTE:

Renal dialysis patients should always be drawn before the dialysis procedure.

 

Laboratory Notes:

 

 

DO NOT SPIN.  Forward promptly at ambient temperature only to Barnes-Jewish Hospital HLA Laboratory.  Do not refrigerate.  Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of draw.

 

 

NOTE:

HLA ELISA Antibody Identification consists of two results:  Class I and II.

 

Reference Values:

 

 

Normal:  negative. 

A positive result indicates the presence of IgG anti-HLA antibodies to either Class I or Class II antigens.
