FIBRIN DEGRADATION PRODUCTS (FDP)

	Test Performed At:
		St. Louis Children’s Hospital
	Specimen Required:
		Call St. Louis Children’s Hospital at (314) 454-4268 to obtain a FDP tube. Collect blood in the FDP tube by letting the tube fill until the vacuum is exhausted and blood flow ceases. The exact volume of blood drawn will vary but should be > 2.0 mL. Alternatively, tubes can be filled by removing the stopper and adding 2-3 mL (minimum 2.0 mL) of blood. Restopper and invert gently to mix. Forward promptly at ambient temperature only.
	Laboratory Notes:
		1.	Sample should sit 30-60 minutes before the sample can be spun. Sample is spun in Coagulation Department.
		2.	Avoid Hemolysis.
