ELECTROPHORESIS, PROTEIN, BLOOD

Agarose Electrophoresis

Includes protein, total.

If gamma globulin result is <0.9 g/dL, serum immunofixation for detection of possible monoclonal proteins will be performed at an additional charge.

Test Performed At:

Barnes Jewish Hospital

Specimen Required:

Collect 5.0 mL (minimum 2.0 mL) of whole blood in a serum gel tube(s) or a plain, red-top tube(s); send to lab.

Laboratory Notes:

Spin, separate and send a minimum of 1.0 ml serum.

Reference Values:

No abnormal restricted peaks in beta- or gamma-regions

Albumin:

3.1-4.2 g/d

Alpha-1:

0.1-0.4 g/dL

Alpha-2:
