	Specimen Required:
		Draw 2.0 mL (pediatric: 0.7 mL green SAMPLETTE™ or MICROTAINER®) of whole blood in a red-top, green-top separator or plain, red-top tube(s) from a fasting patient. Avoid prolonged venous stasis when drawing the specimen. Protect specimen from light.
		NOTE:	1.		Eating affects results. Be sure to determine if fasting (>8 hours) or random specimen after meal is required.
			2.		If collecting specimen in a green-top tube, order Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Plasma.
			3.		If collecting specimen in a red-top tube, order Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Serum.
	Laboratory Notes:
		Spin, separate and aliquot serum or plasma into brown light protected tube.
		NOTE:		Reorder test for CMP, Serum if specimen comes in red-top tube.
