Tissue Culture and Standard Cytogenetics

Cytogenetic Lab at Washington University Pathology

 

Specimen Required:

 

 

Acceptable tissues are fetal, cord blood, or origin placenta w/chronic villi:

 

 

1.0 cm2 biopsy of fetal tissue. If fetal tissue is not available, extra embryonic tissue is acceptable. (All attempts should be made to get tissue from the placenta. Maternal tissue will not be setup.) Place biopsy in a screw-capped, sterile container with sterile tissue culture medium. DO NOT USE STERILE SALINE. (Tissue culture medium is supplied by St. Louis Children’s Hospital.) Do not handle with hands. Forward promptly at ambient temperature only.

Please complete a "Cytogenetics Requisition Form" and forward it with the specimen. This form is supplied by St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
