Specimen Required:

 

 

Collect 2.0 mL (minimum 1.0 mL) of whole blood in a serum gel tube(s) or a plain, red-top tube(s) from a fasting patient (12 hours preferred) and send to lab.

 

Laboratory Notes:

 

 

Spin, separate and send 1.0 mL (0.5 mL minimum) of serum frozen in a plastic vial.

 

 

NOTE:

1.

Will also accept EDTA and NaHeparin plasma.

 

 

 

2.

REJECT due to lipemia.

 

Reference Values:

 

 

19-37 mg/dL

 

 

NOTE:

Studies in children show that adult levels of C1 Inhibitor are reached by 6 months of age.
