Add 25 mL of 50% acetic
acid as preservative at start of collection or within 4 hours of completion
of collection (use 15 mL of 50% acetic acid for
children <5 years old). This
preservative is intended to achieve a pH of between approximately 2.0 and
4.0. See special
instructions for “Urine Preservatives” for multiple
collections and special instructions “Renin
— Aldosterone Studies” for detailed instructions. Aliquot 11.0 mL
(minimum 6.0 mL) from a 24-hour urine collection
into a plastic, 13-mL urine tube (or 60-mL urine bottle). Send specimen
refrigerated. |
