ACYLCARNITINE, URINE
Includes a quantitiative HPLC/ESI/MS/MS determination of over 35 different acylcarnitines including short-, medium-, and long-chain acylcarnitines. Includes quantification of Total and Free Carnitine.
	Test Performed At:
		Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital (CIDEM)
	Specimen Required:
		Send 1.0-5.0 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) of urine from a random urine collection in a urine container supplied by St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
		REQUIRED: send a completed CIDEM requisition with specimen.
	Laboratory Notes:
		Send 1.0-5.0 mL (minimum 0.5 mL) of urine frozen in plastic container. See Special Sendout Information Sheet for processing and shipping instructions.
		NOTE:	Send a completed CIDEM requisition with specimen.
			If a patient has an order for both Acylcarnitine, Urine and Carnitine, Urine; the order for the Carnitine can be cancelled as a duplicate order (test included in another order) and the specimen sent to CIDEM. The Acylcarnitine Urine Profile at CIDEM includes a urine Carnitine (free and total).
