Nursing is a profession that offers unlimited opportunities for employment and a rewarding career. There is no other profession where there is such a blending of intellectual stimulation and the ability to make a difference in people's lives.

Nurses provide care to patients and their families in a variety of settings including hospitals, clinics, businesses, schools, and patient homes. Nursing is a holistic discipline, emphasizing the connections among the physical, social, spiritual and cultural aspects of individuals. Nurses not only care for those who are sick or disabled, but also provide interventions that promote health and prevent disease.

Graduates from ASN programs are prepared to care for patients and families in primarily acute care hospitals. Education at the baccalaureate level (BSN) prepares students to care for patients and families in hospitals but also in the community and a variety of other settings. At the master's level (MSN or NP), nurses further develop analytical skills, relate theory to practice, and conduct research.
