STUDENT LIFE

International Students

Jewish Hospital College is approved by the Department of Immigration and Naturalization for F-1 status. Eligibility documents for international students are maintained in the Office of Student and Support services. Our educational partner, Washington University provides expanded services to international students for such diverse needs as English as a Second Language (ESL) programs, personal and cross-cultural programs, and social, cultural, and recreational activities designed to foster international understanding and enrichment.

Disability Services

Students with disabilities are integrated as equal members of the campus community. As information about a student's disability is not obtained in the admission process, disabled students must identify their needs to obtain assistance. Services include campus accessibility for mobility impairment, housing and classroom accommodations, counseling, referral for learning disability, diagnoses, test proctoring, audiocassette recorder/player loans, and teaching adaptations in consultation with the faculty.

Student Health

Students are responsible for their own medical care and are strongly encouraged to have insurance coverage while they are enrolled. Information about insurance plans is available from the Office of Student and Support Services. Students may seek general health care services from Washington University Student Health Services; specialist care, however, is not available. Students will be assessed a modest fee for each visit and there may be additional charges for immunizations or other tests.

Student Activities

Student leaders plan and conduct socials, community activities and wellness programs under the auspices of the Office of Student and Support Services. Students are encouraged to express themselves through Student Council, membership in standing committees of the Faculty Organization, the Residence Council, written evaluation and comment, and structured and informal dialogues with administration, faculty and staff. Through these experiences, students develop skill in using political processes, develop leadership and group process skills, and participate in College, professional, community, social and campus activities.

Residential Life

The Residence is located within the College building. Like nowhere else, the neighborhood reflects the diversity of St. Louis with places to eat, places to shop, and places to just kick back and relax.
