Upper Division
Overview
This prelicensure program is designed for individuals who have completed 62 credits in liberal arts and support sciences course work (see Program Prerequisites below). The program consists of 63 credits of discipline-specific courses, and a full-time course sequence will take two calendar years to complete. Graduates from this program are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, although successful completion of the program does not automatically guarantee eligibility to take the licensure examination. The BSN Upper Division program prepares graduates to provide direct care in a variety of health care settings to diverse patients and their families, as well as to pursue higher degrees in nursing.
BSN Upper Division Program Goals:
To prepare graduates to:
- Practice in a manner that reflects commitment to the professional values of altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity and social justice.
- Develop therapeutic relationships with clients throughout the lifespan from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
- Provide culturally competent care to clients through collaboration with the client, family and other health care providers.
- Provide evidence-based care with all clients in a safe, effective and caring manner.
- Provide effective education with clients, their families, groups of clients and other health care professionals regarding primary, secondary and tertiary prevention as intervention, as well as disease-specific information.
- Practice as member of a multidisciplinary health care team through cooperation, collaboration, negotiation and communication to ensure that care is continuous and reliable.
- Assume a leadership role within one's scope of practice.
- Use information technology to access and utilize data from a wide variety of resources to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error and support decision making.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement strategies to ensure a safe environment for clients, families, communities and health care organizations.
- Participate in political and regulatory processes for the nursing profession.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to profession development and to accountability for practice.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Upper Division Admission Requirements
In addition to the Undergraduate Admission Criteria, the following criteria must also be met :
- Minimum 2.75 GPA
- Successfully complete the Nurse Entrance Test (NET) with a score above the national average passing rate
